From Trøndelag, until now, perhaps Tore Kolås from Trondheim Chess Association has been responsible for the greatest achievement when he held GM Sergey Volkov in 90 moves. The Russian won after 91 moves, where the time was decisive.

11.00 – 13.00 The Lewis Chessmen probably originate from Trondheim and are associated with Nidaros Cathedral. Here you will gain insight into the history of the peaces and why this is likely. Archaeologist and researcher Øystein Ekroll holds the lecture and will show us similarities from the Nidaros Cathedral and the Archbishop’s Court. Chess historian Øystein Brekke from the chess history forum will also contribute.
The lecture starts at 11am, with attendance at «Cafe Two Towers» at the Nidaros Cathedral. Free for participants in Hell Chess International, for others, participation fee is NOK 200.
