Hell Season kicks off this spring with three exciting tournaments – one journey through Chess’s Spark, Flames, and Inferno. A new series begins in the fall, bringing fresh challenges and opportunities.
Open to all chess enthusiasts – locals, visitors, and curious hobby players alike – Hell Season offers a chance to compete, connect, and grow. Younger players will have the unique opportunity to learn from some of our best players, gaining inspiration and valuable insights.

Hell Season Norwegian Grand Prix, Spring
Where: Julianus Holms Veg 34, Lade
Schedule: From 14:00 – the rounds will be played consecutively.

Physical attendance: No later than 13:45!
Participation fee: 300,- for juniors and 400,- for seniors (CM, FM, IM, GM, WCM, WFM, WIM and WGM free)

Scoring: 0 – 1 – 3
Group A : 2000+ Master
Group B : 1600 – 1999 Classes 1 & 2
Group C : 0 – 1599 Class 3
Rating lists follow the Grand Prix regulations for the applicable season, with no exceptions granted for playing in a class above one’s own rating.
Tournament Info: FIDE Dutch Swiss, FIDE-rated
All results will be published publicly with names, and photos will be taken during the tournament to be used on social media and chess websites. Please let us know if you prefer not to be photographed, and we will, of course, accommodate that.

Only 3 players receive prizes; ties share equally.
Overall prizes after 3 tournaments
A: 2000,- + T-shirt

Shared in case of equal total points, good luck splitting the t-shirt in half.
Time control and rounds
The Spark: 5 rounds, 12 minutes per player per game + 10 seconds increment.
Flames of Chess: 6 rounds, 10 minutes per player per game + 10 seconds increment.
Inferno: 7 rounds, 10 minutes per player per game + 5 seconds increment.

Participation fee: 150,- Free entry for those participating in the Grand Prix tournament later in the day!

Group U9 : Born in 2016 or later
Group U12 : Born in 2013, 2014 or 2025

In special cases, it is permitted to play in an older age group.
